Important Exclusions & Limitations

These are situations where AIA Australia Limited may not pay a claim. Read these carefully before applying.

General Exclusions

  • Intentional self-inflicted injury or suicide (13 months for Life Cover increases)
  • Participation in criminal activity or resulting from incarceration
  • Engaging in armed forces service (after cover commencement)
  • Normal pregnancy, uncomplicated childbirth or miscarriage (Income Protection/Business Expenses)
  • Pre-existing conditions (unless disclosed and accepted)

TPD Limitations

  • Not payable if Terminal Illness claim in progress or paid
  • Not payable if death occurs within 14 days of disabling injury/sickness

Income Protection Offsets

Your benefit may be reduced by income from:

  • Sick pay from employer
  • Income/profits from current or former business
  • Social Security payments or government grants
  • Workers compensation or motor vehicle claim payments
  • Other income replacement insurance payments
