Why Choose Insure Me For Life
Comparison across 9 Australian insurers, transparent pricing, and genuine support when you need it most. General advice from Insure Me For Life, Authorised Representative 1244847 of Consilium Advice Australia Pty Ltd (AFSL 246623).
IMFL is a general-advice broker that compares retail life cover across nine Australian insurers. No fee to you, commissions disclosed up front in the Financial Services Guide.
There are four ways to buy personal insurance in Australia. Going direct is fast but gives you one insurer's view. Aggregators show price but rarely product detail or claims practice. Personal-advice brokerages produce a Statement of Advice but often charge a fee. IMFL sits in the general-advice space: factual product information across the panel, with the broker handling the application end-to-end.
There is no markup on premiums: the insurer sets the price of a retail policy, commission is already built into it, and the same policy costs the same through any adviser. Insurers do not sell retail policies directly to consumers; what they sell direct are different, direct-channel products. The sections below set out exactly what we do, how we are paid, and how the broker route compares to going direct on a feature-by-feature basis.
We provide general advice only. That means factual product information without a personalised recommendation that considers your full financial situation. If your circumstances are complex enough to warrant personal advice and a Statement of Advice, we will say so and refer accordingly.
How does the process work, from first quote to cover in place?
You start online: indicative quotes across 9 insurers in about three minutes. Your quotes appear online straight away, and your broker follows up with one quick call to walk through them and answer questions: a licensed broker, not a call centre. If you decide to proceed, we prepare a written side-by-side comparison, lodge the application with your chosen insurer, and manage the insurer's underwriting questions through to the policy being issued. Everything happens by phone and online, Australia-wide.
- Start online. The quote form takes about three minutes and returns indicative quotes across the 9-insurer panel.
- Talk it through. Your broker calls once to walk through the quotes and answer questions. Prefer to talk first? Book a free 15-minute call via book a consultation.
- Compare in writing. We prepare a written side-by-side comparison of price, features and definitions across the panel.
- We lodge and manage. We complete and lodge the application and handle the insurer's underwriting questions with you until the policy is issued.
- We stay around. Policy changes, requotes and claim-time support continue after the policy starts, and we email you a review reminder on each policy anniversary.
Will I get endless sales calls after requesting a quote?
No. One quote request gets you your quotes online straight away, plus one quick call from your broker to walk through them, with no pressure to proceed. There is no obligation at any point, we do not resell your details, and every email we send has a working unsubscribe. If you would rather talk before quoting, you can book a free 15-minute call at a time that suits you instead.
How much paperwork do I have to handle?
Less than doing it yourself. You give your details once. From there the broker prepares the written comparison, completes and lodges the application forms with you, and handles the insurer's underwriting questions as they come up, explaining what is being asked and why in plain English. Where a health disclosure needs testing first, your adviser can arrange a pre-assessment so insurer appetite is checked before any formal application is lodged.

Key Insight: A broker does not make cover more expensive. The insurer sets the premium, commission is built into it, and the same retail policy costs the same through any adviser. But this is not two prices for one product: insurers do not sell retail policies directly to consumers, so buying direct means buying a different, direct-channel product, typically with underwriting deferred to claim time and a smaller feature set. And an insurer's website will only ever show you its own products; it has no reason to tell you when another insurer's policy is stronger or cheaper.
Who is Insure Me For Life a good fit for?
Four groups get the most out of a panel broker: people with something to disclose, such as a pre-existing health condition, a hazardous occupation, or self-employment income that needs explaining to an underwriter; first-timers who want plain English instead of jargon; regional and remote clients, because everything is done by phone and online Australia-wide; and analytical buyers who want the numbers side by side before deciding. If your situation is simple and you are comfortable reading a PDS yourself, going direct can also be reasonable, and we say so.
If you have a health condition to disclose, start with our guide to life insurance with pre-existing conditions; for hazardous work, see high-risk occupations. Analytical buyers can start at the side-by-side comparison hub.
What support do you get after the policy starts?
The relationship does not end when the policy is issued. You can come back at any time for policy changes, questions about your cover, or a fresh comparison across the panel at no cost: policy anniversaries and life events like a new baby, a mortgage or a career change are common moments when people re-compare their cover against the market. You do not have to track that date yourself: we email you on each policy anniversary with an invitation to a free, no-obligation review conversation. And at claim time, we help you or your family assemble the claim and liaise with the insurer.
What claim-time support looks like in practice: claims support.
What is Insure Me For Life not?
Three things, stated plainly. We are not an insurer: the insurer assesses applications, makes underwriting decisions and pays claims. We are not a personal advice provider: we give general advice only, meaning factual comparisons without a personalised recommendation. And we are not whole-of-market: we compare 9 insurers (AIA, Zurich, TAL, OnePath, ClearView, NEOS, Encompass, Acenda and Futura), insurers outside that panel are not compared, and we are paid commission by the insurer you choose, disclosed in our Financial Services Guide.
The full panel comparison lives at /compare; commission figures are in the Financial Services Guide.
How Are We Paid?
Transparency is important to us. Here's exactly how we earn commission:
Commission from Insurers
When you purchase a policy through us, the insurance company pays us a commission. This commission is:
- Paid by the insurer, not by you
- Already factored into the premium price
- The same regardless of who you buy from
- Fully disclosed to you before purchase
Commission Structure
Initial Commission
0% to 60% (ex GST) of the first year's premium, paid when your policy is issued
Trail Commission
Ongoing trailing commission of up to 0.20% (ex GST) from the day following the first anniversary date, while your policy remains active
Full details are in our Financial Services Guide (Version 10, 13 May 2024).
Our Commitment
While different insurers pay different commission rates, we present all options fairly and allow you to choose based on price, features, and insurer reputation, not our commission. Our goal is to help you find the right coverage, not maximize our earnings.
